Jennifer Lopez aka J Lo; a Style Icon
Its no secret that Jennifer Lopez, aka J.Lo, knows how to dress. The woman always looks impeccable from red carpet glam to casual looks for play dates with her twins (I swear I’ve never seen a mom look so good in jeans and a tee). And speaking of red carpet, did you see that amazing red Versace sequined sheer stunner she wore to the recent 2015 Met Gala? Well I did and I was in couture heaven! Plus it got me to thinking, J.Lo has been a serious head turner for years and usually in amazing
sheer/cutout/barely there numbers that at age 45, she wears better than many 20 something’s. Over the recent years Jennifer has given us sensual sexy but has always kept it elegant and left us wanting more. And it all started one amazing night with the 2000 Grammy’s. She blew us away with that green floral print Versace dress with the plunging neckline and held together with a strategically placed brooch. That dress helped launch her as a style icon!
More recently her American Idol performance was electrifying, especially in her custom made Mariel Haenn off-shoulder white gown, which was 20 feet in circumference! The fact that the dress itself was used in her performance as a live piece of art only upped the ante.
At the Oscars this year, she wow’d us in the Zuhair Murad couture sheer and rhinestone dress. She seems to love this designer because she wore another of his beautiful creations at the 2013 HRC National Dinner. A fresh off the runway burgundy gown with her signature sheer paneled cutouts and beautiful sequined design that seemed to resembled veins. Different but fashion forward and amazing.
During the 2015 Golden Globes she went a bit more minimalist with an all white ensemble, cutout white crop top and skirt courtesy of designer Amanda Wakeley. This was one of my personal favorites, she just looked so fresh and vibrant in this outfit. Plus she keeps herself physically fit so pretty much everything looks gorgeous on her (J.Lo, what’s your secret girl?!).
Same goes for the 2014 American Music Awards, where she came dressed in the blush colored Reem Acra dress with it’s perfectly placed cutouts and straps.
Next up? 2014 MTV Video Music Awards where Jennifer GATHERED her younger counterparts in the silver glittery Charbel Zoe cutout dress.
I have no words, but Jenny From the Block owned that red carpet. At the 2014 Billboard Music Awards the red belted Donna Karan dress was very reminiscent of her 2000 Versace dress. Especially with it’s flowing skirt and sheer, yet bold coloring. Over the years Jenny has evolved her style but she rarely, if ever disappoints and as you can see from just the most recent years showstoppers, she’s not afraid to wear anything. Her style, just as the outfits she wears, is bold and captivating. And I for one, hope the next step after American Idol is a fashion/style themed show…..I mean, one can hope right?
