By Ryan Justine · On October 28, 2015

When we first saw Marco Hall, he was pinning the side of a dress, rearranging a hemline and looking for a hair tie… all at once! Clearly a man about his business. He was in the middle of prepping for his fashion presentation at NYFW+, making sure all final touches were perfect, and that the collection itself was exactly as he wanted it to be. It was amazing! The clothing was draped flawlessly. The silhouettes were both sexy and flattering. The movements were captivating as each models walked the runway. It all seemed effortless and when speaking to him, you immediately know why.

Marco_Hall_shotbyjason-11Ryan: Mr. Hall, what a fabulous presentation! While definitely not your first show, it’s your first time at NYFW+… did that change your design process?
Marco: Not really. I design for the everyday woman. That’s who my muse is, not a celebrity.

Nicki: When preparing for a new season, what are some of the things that inspire you in coming up with a collection?
Marco: Well, what inspired me to create my new collection are the people. Everyone has a different shape and curve to their body and it just inspire me to fit each one.

Ryan: That’s wonderful. The print of choice, paisley is very interesting. The colors are a bit dark and dramatic. How involved in the creative process are you?
Marco: Very. I selected the fabric because of how it speaks to me. Then I cut the patterns, sew the garment, do fittings, everything.

Marco_Hall_shotbyjason-18Nicki: I seems that you like to use different prints and materials in your design, is there any particular reason why?
Marco: Prints are fun….. Each print has a different shape, design and size that allow me to create the perfect dress or outfit for each type of women. I believe that when I am creating a dress for that particular woman using unique prints tell a story of what that women is going through that day. For example; if she is wearing leopard print, she would feel fierce and sexy.

Ryan: Wow. So fabric seems really important to your designs.
Marco: Yes, it is. I’m considering going into textiles… I love fabric!

Ryan: Would you ever stop designing and focus just on textiles?
Marco: No, I enjoy what I do to much. I love it.

Nicki: I see that you own a boutique shop and have the theme that everyone is their own celebrity. What inspired this vision?
Marco: Well, It was originally a consignment shop. I bought the store to sell my designs so they can be accessible to everyone that wanted to purchase high fashion pieces.

Marco_Hall_shotbyjason-7Nicki: Among the celebrities that you work with which one would you consider to be your muse?
Marco: There is no particular celebrity that I enjoy working with I love them all. I believe each individual is unique in their own way. I believe that the clothes are what bring out the celebrity in you…. I feel that each design and cut are made to fit each one, so they can go out into the world with not only grace but lots of confidence.

Ryan: So much more to come from Marco Hall! Do you have a favorite piece in this collection?
Marco: I wouldn’t say a favorite. I like the color and the silhouette is very 70’s. You know dance… movement… fun! That’s what I want to create for the women who wear my designs.

Ryan: I love that. The 70’s were awesome… at least from what I hear. Where can fashionistas everywhere find you?
Marco:  My showroom is in New Jersey, custom orders can be placed there, my website, Instagram, Twitter.

Ryan: Perfect! Thank you so much Mr. Hall and again, it is an amazing collection!
