Mayweather v. Pacquiao
May 2nd 2015, it is a cool spring night, Queens, New York in the Jamaica Performing Arts Center but the air is thick with anticipation for the “fight of the century” Mayweather v. Pacquiao! There is an air of anticipation that of New Years Eve, like something spectacular just might happen. Except something spectacular didn’t happen. And the anticipation dwindled down to boredom as Mayweather and Pacquiao danced around the ring. A fleeting moment of excitement came in the fourth round where Pacquiao seem to turn the fight into more of his style of play as the dancers actually began to fight. But this would not hold as Mayweather was content on dancing with his defense and left jab countering Pacquiao and keeping him at bay. To me my expectations we’re lower knowing that Mayweather was never an exciting Boxer a defensive tactician and knew Pacquiao didn’t have the strength to trick Mayweather into a brawl. What it comes down to is that Mayweather is it good even some might say great boxer he’s just not an exciting boxer and definitely not “the greatest“.
“In boxing you never know who you’re going to face in ring.” ~Manny Pacquiao
“A true champion can adapt to anything.” ~Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
