Fashion Trends Sneakers….with Dresses?
Depending on how “fashionable” you consider yourself, you might or might not be on top of the endless list of emerging trends. There’s always something that the ultra chic and trendy do to set themselves apart from the masses and this newest “it” fashion statement is no different. Dresses with sneakers. I know it sounds like some serious fashion faux pas from an 80’s teen cult film but its true!! When I was growing up, sneakers were NEVER wore with a dress, unless you were a tomboy or you just had a thing for being ridiculed by the other girls ( we all knew some Mean Girls in school). But as we all know, fashion has developed into a “wear what you want” era and 2015 has introduced us to a revamped definition of the “casual chic” woman. The key to nailing this trend? To look pulled together and sporty, avoid baggy formless dresses and dirty, old looking sneakers at ALL COSTS. The worse thing to do is to look shapeless and dingy. I recently wore a fitted black jersey mini dress with my FAVORITE pair of neon green Reebok Zigtech sneakers. I added a lime green crossbody bag for an additional pop of color, threw on my camo Brooklyn Nets snapback and finished off the look with a big pair of shades. Sporty chic never looked so good.

You’re going for a dressier look but still wanna be comfy? Make sure your footwear adds to the dress, if you’re wearing a sequined mini dress, throw on a pair of wedge sneakers with some details. Zippers, chains, or even sequins. Allow the dress and the footwear to compliment each other. The best way to pull of this look? To own it! You can wear anything you want as long as you have the confidence to do so, don’t let the look wear you. While I was hesitate at first, I think this is a trend I definitely plan to stick with. Its comfortable and cute, two things that don’t always go together for me (sometimes its not always possible to be both haha), but I think I found my new staple look for the summer.
